  24. While I'm all for AT marketing, just because two companies announce a 
  25. "technology alliance" doesn't mean they're going to do...well, anything.

  27. It's the big thing now.  It gets you lots of free press (if you're 
  28. Microsoft, you can milk the obligatory "2X as many press releases as 
  29. anybody else that day" rule out of it), and makes you sound 
  30. forward-thinking in your prospectus.

  32. But a lot of the time it's just not going to happen, or fail miserably 
  33. when it does.  (Mattel Aquarius, anyone?)
